Dr. Harsh Vardhan, at present Minister of Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, Government of India, was a practicing ENT surgeon before entering public life in 1993. He was elected to the Delhi Assembly that year from Krishna Nagar constituency in east Delhi and went on to retain that seat in all five elections in 1993, 1998, 2003, 2008 and 2013. In 2014, he contested the Lok Sabha election for the first time and was elected from Chandni Chowk, Delhi. Fondly called “Doctor Saab” by supporters and opponents alike, Dr Harsh Vardhan is known for disarming simplicity in his personal life and transparency at the work place. When he was Minister in the Delhi government (1993-98), the people found him remarkably accessible and officials respected him for his hands-on style of functioning. Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee once said of Dr Harsh Vardhan: “He joined politics with the laudable objective of using his considerable medical knowledge and experience for serving the common man”. As Health Minister in the Narendra Modi government for five months, he initiated many reforms in the public health system of the country. He took over as Minister for Science &Technology and Earth Sciences in November 2014 with the confidence of the Prime Minister who earlier held this portfolio. He is committed to set a roadmap for the implementation of the “Make in India” programme by building a robust R&D infrastructure and promoting synergies between industry and scientific research institutions. Anurita also commended the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for all the hard work he is doing to make changes towards positivity for India and the baby steps he has already taken to make a difference for India within one year. She said, but we still have a lot of work that needs to be done to make the bigger changes for our country. She said, all changes that are promised will be doable in due time. All changes will be possible if we work together with the right people & become a strong team, be persistent, working hard and be willing to want a change for India's success. On the way to success, we will have to be very careful of some of the evil-minded people around us, we must identify them and weed them out so they cannot hinder in the progress of India. With this formula, I am sure nothing can stop us from cleaning India and achieving our goals to reach the heights of progress. Satyamev Jayatey. Anurita concluded by saying: BHARAT MATA KI JAI. JAI HIND!!! |

Dr. Anurita Kapur invited to and attended 2015 Annual ECOSOC Partnerships: "THE ROLE OF PARTNERSHIPS IN ACHIEVING THE POST-2015 DEVELOPMENT AGENDA: MAKING IT HAPPEN" at the United Nations Headquarters in Manhattan, New York on Thursday, May 28, 2015. Two interactive multi-stakeholder dialogues took place. The morning session considered "Partnerships in support of strengthening health systems: Building resilience to pandemics". It addressed concrete solutions and actions needed to catalyse partnerships for health systems strengthening and building resilience to pandemics, including developing human resources for health and promoting modern medical care, to settings of poverty. The afternoon discussion was on " Partnerships for the Post-2015 era: Reality check". Seeking to bring new ideas and fresh thinking on ways in which multi- stakeholder partnerships can support the implementation of the Post-2015 development agenda. The outcome of the discussions was submitted to all United Nations member state countries during its 2015 high-level (Ministerial) session of ECOSOC in July as well as the Special summit on the Post-2015 period to be held in September 2015. Background The international community is currently preparing for the historic Summit of Heads of State and Government in September 2015 to adopt the post-2015 development agenda. Inter-governmental negotiations continue on shaping this new agenda, one that will be universal in nature and include the views and aspirations of a wide range of stakeholders on ways in which to engage and support international development. Against this backdrop, the Economic and Social Council will hold its seventh annual Partnerships Forum, which will bring together leaders from the private sector, philanthropy, civil society and academia, to engage in a dialogue with governments on actions that could be taken in this regard. The outcome of the Forum will contribute to ECOSOC’s 2015 theme: “Managing the transition from the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): what will it take”. It could also provide a valuable input to the September 2015 Special Summit. Objective and focus The objective of the 2015 Partnership Forum will be to bring fresh ideas and new thinking on ways in which multi-stakeholders partnerships can support the implementation of the post-2015 development agenda. Building on the Special Meeting convened by ECOSOC on 27 February 2015, the Forum will look at ways to improve outcomes and results in the post-2015 building on lessons learned from MDG partnerships. As an example of how partnerships can begin to reset the scope and contributions to advancing national development strategies, the Forum will address how partnerships can help to strengthen health systems and building resilience to pandemics. This first partnership dialogue will build on the outcome of the ECOSOC Special Meeting on Ebola: A Threat to Sustainable Development held on 5 December 2014 which called for attention to and investment in health systems including through multi-stakeholder partnerships. The Forum will also aim to promote concrete initiatives and new partnerships that support national development strategies in two areas: namely, (i) developing human resources for health such as world-class medical and nursing schools and a cadre of compensated community health workers; (ii) bringing modern medical care, including drug and vaccine treatments, to settings of poverty. In doing so, the Forum will begin to consider ways that partnerships can support proposed SDG 3: “Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.” The Forum will also look broadly at how partnerships can deliver on UN goals and mandates at an operational level. The second partnership dialogue will address lessons learned from partnerships in support of the MDGs and will also look at opportunities for new partnerships or opportunities in the post-2015 era. It will also examine the question of the effectiveness of partnerships by focusing on how to best measure results. In doing so, practical examples in the area of science, education and policy making will be used to anchor the dialogue. Participants Participants were representatives of Member States, regional and other intergovernmental organizations, senior officials of the United Nations system, and leaders from the private sector, philanthropy as well as representatives of organizations and the scientific community and academia with interest in these specific issues. Outcome A Presidential Statement will be issued by the President of ECOSOC with the key messages of the Forum, which will be transmitted to the media and other stakeholders. A more extensive summary of the meeting’s deliberations will serve as an input to the Council’s High-level segment in July 2015 as well as the Special Summit on the Post-2015 period to be held in September 2015. Letter of thanks to Dr. Anurita Kapur from ECPAT-USA for supporting and advocating for the Victims of Trafficking. Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act Passes House May 19, 2015 Dear Dr. Anurita Kapur, It is with great pleasure we report that the Senate package of the Justice for Victims of Trafficking S. 178 (JVTA) has passed the House of Representatives (420-3)! The JVTA is a comprehensive piece of legislation designed to fight and prevent human trafficking in the United States. The bill will provide critical funding so that child victims of trafficking can get the services they need to heal and law enforcement can receive training that will strengthen their response to this horrific crime. The whole package includes other top ECPAT-USA priorities, including a provision that will hold people who buy and exploit children accountable for the harm they cause, language that recognizes that child victims of trafficking should be considered victims of child abuse, and the creation of a Survivor Council. We are so thankful to our federal partners, and the original bill sponsors, Representatives Ted Poe (R-TX) and Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) for their commitment to this bill and making sure that vulnerable children have a voice in Congress. This landmark bill also represents many years of hard work and advocacy from ALL OF YOU Anurita, and we could not have gotten this far without your dedication. We would like to especially recognize our Code of Conduct partners including the Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE), CorpTrav Management Group, and the American Hotel and Lodging Association (AH&LA); the students from St. Joseph High School in Brooklyn; and all of our allies who wrote letters and called their representatives to demand they pass this bill. Moving forward, we eagerly await the bill to be signed into law by President Obama. Sincerely, Carol Smolenski ECPAT-USA |
Dr. Anurita Kapur was sent a thank you and congratulations letter by the GIRL UP Organization on June 15, 2015. This letter congratulates Anurita saying: YOU MADE HISTORY. Dear Dr. Anurita Kapur, Wow. We did it! The Girls Count Act was just signed into law! The Girls Count Act will help ensure children in developing countries are registered at birth. This is especially critical when 4 out of 10 children are not registered at birth. Today - together - we put an end to this. This is a huge win for the countless girls - and boys - around the world that this bill will help support. And importantly, this is a huge win for you. Thousands of you wrote letters, called and met with your members of Congress; you signed petitions, posted on social media and held advocacy events. Your efforts brought us to this moment. You took action - and the U.S. government listened! In passing this bill, President Obama and Congress have made girls in developing countries a foreign policy priority. Let's show President Obama and Congress just how many of us stand with them in supporting girls around the world. We have been pushing for this piece of legislation to get passed since the bill was first introduced in the fall of 2013. It's been a long road, but we refused to stop until our work was done. This is how powerful our movement is. By coming together, we put the rights and needs of girls around the world front and center. By uniting behind this bill, we've helped break down a significant barrier preventing girls from reaching their full potential. That's why I'm so excited that the President and Congress have committed to supporting girls around the world. Thank you for making the Girls Count Act law. Congratulations - you made history! Thanks so much, Melissa Hillebrenner Director, Girl Up |

Dr. Anurita Kapur was invited to and she attended a high level & high profile Celebration 70 Years since Signing of the UN Charter. It was celebrated by the International Musical Concert Event: "The Rhythms of One World" held at the General Assembly Hall at the United Nations Headquarters in Manhattan, New York. "The Rhythms of One World" Concert On 26 June 2015, the Permanent Mission of Romania to the UN organized, with the support of the Friendship Ambassadors Organization, a high profile event, in the General Assembly (GA) Hall, part of The Rhythms of One World Festival. This is meant to celebrate 70 years since the Signing of the UN Charter, on 26 June 1945, in San Francisco. At the same time, the concert was the top event from a cycle of activities to mark 60 years since Romania became a member of the UN. In his speech, in front of the full GA Hall, The Deputy Secretary General, Jan Eliasson, presented a message from the Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, who is in San Francisco these days. The high UN official spoke about the importance of music and culture, of the spiritual dimension, for understanding of the UN task: “We have to diminish the gap between the world as it is and the world as it should be. We need to be realistic that we cannot close the gap, but we can diminish it”. Musical groups from the USA, Croatia, China, as well as the Allegretto children’s choir from Romania performed in the concert. Special guests of the gala were the ambassadors who make up the UNRocks music group: the Permanent Representatives of Romania, Serbia, Denmark, Thailand and Republic of Korea. The end of the show witnessed all the choirs reunited on stage (150 artists), performing the song that gives the title to the festival, The Rhythms of One World, a creation by the American composer Gary Fry, the festival’s musical director. The event was a great success with the public, made up of diplomats, permanent representatives to the UN, high UN officials and staff, as well as numerous VIP’s. In her speech, the Permanent Representative of Romania to the UN, Amb. Simona Miculescu, highlighted: "The title of this festival - “Rhythms of One World” -, is an inspiring reminder of the spirit of the UN Charter, of the symbolic nature of this very place, and is also an invitation to celebrate Unity through Diversity, the same as different notes can create rhythms and harmonies in an Emmy- winning score. In the spirit of all noble UN values, together, in this room, we will be united tonight by music, which is the only universal language, transcending ideologies, differences of all kinds, and all that still divides us. By the spirit of youth, that still rests in all of us – be it young in age or young in spirit -, today we come together in a symbolic place that hosts the largest family known by modern history, the family of 193 nations! And what a family this is! We should come now with open hearts to welcome those who will sing to us and remind us that we should not forget to join hands and “sing along” more." For Amb. Miculescu, the concert was also an opportunity to say goodbye to the diplomatic corps accredited to the UN, before finishing her mandate in New York and before taking over the role of Representative of the UN Secretary General and head of the UN Office in Belgrade. |

Dr. Anurita Kapur was invited to and she attended a Reception for Honorable Alejandro Toledo the former President of Peru on July 13, 2015 at The International Education Institute. President of Peru, Honorable Toledo autographed his book for Anurita. "As President of Peru, Alejandro Toledo confronted some of Latin America's biggest challenges. Today, he shares his vision for the region's future, and offers a road map for promoting growth and creating the inclusive, prosperous society that is well within reach." President Bill Clinton said, "Alejandro Toledo makes the critical observation that Latin America cannot secure its democracy unless it simultaneously improves the quality of governance and meets the ever-rising expectations of the region's populations. He offers many wise suggestions for how to meet what will be the critical challenge of the 21st century." Francis Fukuyama, author of Political Order and Political Decay "With the benefits of the momentous economic growth experienced by Latin America over recent decades comes the responsibility to promote the rule of Law, safeguard human rights, improve equal access to education and public health, and work towards economic equality. These are the best values for any contemporary democracy and the guiding principles of Alejandro Toledo's economic vision in The Shared Society." Fernando Henrique Cardoso, 34th President of Brazil Simultaneously, Dr. Toledo founded and continues to serve as the President of the Global Center for Development and Democracy in Washington, DC. In 2009–2010, Dr. Toledo was a Distinguished Visiting Scholar at the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University in Washington, D.C., and also a Non-Resident Senior Fellow in Foreign Policy and Global Economy and Development at the Brookings Institution. In recent years, Dr. Toledo has published on policy-oriented academic issues related to Economic Growth, Inclusiveness and Democracy. "In the past two decades, Latin America has gone through a major transformation. You could even call it a renaissance. This renaissance could continue for many decades, transforming most Latin American countries into highly developed, socially more equal and deeply democratic societies. . . Hard work, planning, and serendipity have led us to a time and place where we have a historic opportunity to make a giant leap forward." Alejandro Toledo Latin America has gone through a major transformation in the past two decades. According to the United Nations, with the discovery of new oil and mineral deposits and increases in energy exports, manufacturing and tourism, Latin America's economic growth and development will only continue, foreign investment will increase, and the region's global influence will become greater and greater. This is an historic opportunity for Latin America. Yet, as Stanford economist and former Peruvian President Alejandro Toledo points out in his new book,The Shared Society, social strife threatens to undermine its recent economic and political progress. The specter of unsustainable growth and greed threatens to compromise the environment. Economic growth rates could slow and democracy could deteriorate into familiar forms of authoritarian populism. In his book Toledo, whose tenure as president of Peru helped spur its economic renaissance, develops a plan for a future Latin America in which its population is not only much better off economically than today, but in which the vast 40 percent of Latin America's poor and marginalized are incorporated into a rising middle class, democratic institutions work more effectively, and the extraordinary ecosystem of Latin America is preserved. This is Toledo's vision for a just, sustainable, and prosperous shared society. To achieve this, Toledo lays out a set of principles and concrete, implementable ideas with which Latin Americans can reinvent themselves as a leading force for change in a continuously globalizing society beset by inequalities and global problems such as climate change and shortages of clean drinkable water, food security, human rights violations and weak democratic institutions. Toledo argues that only extraordinary efforts of vision, determination, courage and inspired leadership will set Latin America on the path to inclusive development. |

LORD AYYAPPA |
Dr. Anurita Kapur was invited to and she attended a the Subharamba Sangamam of Lord Ayyappa devotees in connection with the building of an Exclusive Lord Ayyappa Temple in Westchester County, New York. Thousands of Ayyappa devotees in America, who aspire to have a Sannidhi with Lord Ayyappa as main deity. With the enormous support from Ayyappa Devotees around the world, This dream project is being undertaken led by Lord Ayyappa devotees. This event took place on Saturday, July 11, 2015 in New York. Lord Ayyappa will be the main deity of the temple along with Lord Ganesh and Lord Hanuman on each side of the Temple. Chief Guests were: Honorable Mr. Kummanam Rajasekharan (Prominent Hindu Leader and General secretary of Hindu Aikya Vedi). A Journalist of The HINDU Newspaper. Dr. A.K. Pillai, he gave an inspiring speech on Hinduism & Sanatan Dharma. Anurita was invited to give a speech, she recognized the Chief Guest Honorable Mr. Kummanam Rajasekharan welcomed him to the U.S. and other Hindu leaders present and she spoke about the richness of Indian culture and its religion and how having such a rich background makes a person have a solid foundation and make them what they are. Anurita, also added how ecstatic she is about building of the Lord Ayyappa Temple in Westchester County where she grew up as a child for short period of time. She announced that she supports the building of the Lord Ayyappa Temple here. She has been a supporter & a devotee for over 4 years of Lord Ayyappa by participating in singing bhajans & arti, abhishekams and pujas and many other offerings. Anurita explains about Hinduism, Lord Ayyappa, Lord Hanuman and Lord Ganesha: Hinduism - giving the Hindu Scriptural Wisdom: The pre-Aryan Dravidian Indus Valley civilization (3000 B.C. to 1650 B.C.), the most pacifist prehistoric civilization in the world, probably created the foundation of Hinduism by Indianizing the conquering Aryan people. The Indus Valley culture had the background organization of Hinduism, with Mother Goddess, God Shiva, Meditation, Asceticism, sacred priesthood, etc. The Mother Goddess must have emerged from the natural and human ecological truth of fertility, as well as reverence of superhuman natural powers. As with the Mother Goddess, God Shiva, the creator of the good and the destroyer of evil, might have actually lived. The Upanishads, the embodiment of the Hindu wisdom, means sitting at the feet of the Master (Guru), and evidently learning from him/her. The Hindu wisdom in the vedas and later through Buddhism and Jainism, etc., have been created by courageous and independent ascetics, through their quest to discover what is human and the nature the human relationship with the Godhead, Brahman. Hence, Hindu wisdom is the outcome of cumulative development, it is different from other religions, which are founded by the prophecies of divine individuals. As in Hinduism, the scriptures of other religions also deal with the core problems of life and their solutions. Why the Gods Created Ayyappa? The legendary story of the genesis of Lord Ayyappa in the Puranas or ancient scriptures is intriguing. After Goddess Durga killed the demon king Mahishasur, his sister, Mahishi, set out to avenge her brother. She carried Lord Brahma's boon that only the child born of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva could slay her, or, in other words, she was indestructible. To save the world from annihilation, Lord Vishnu, incarnated as Mohini, wed Lord Shiva and out of their union Lord Ayyappa was born. Ayyappan (also called Sastavu, Manikanṭhan or Sasta) is a Hindu deity who is the son of Harihara, a rigvedic deity fused with both Shiva and Vishnu. He is generally depicted in a yogic posture, wearing a jewel around his neck, hence named Manikandan, Literally meaning "With bell around the neck". Popular Hindu Mantra in Malayam: स्वामीये सारनाम आयापा "Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa" (Meaning: Give me shelter, Lord Ayyappa!) Anurita explains that Lord Hanuman is a Hindu God and an ardent devotee of Rama. He is a central character in the Hindu epic Ramayana and its various versions. He is also mentioned in several other texts, including Mahabharata, the various Puranas and some Jain texts. A vanara, Hanuman participated in Rama's war against the demon king Ravana. Several texts also present him as an incarnation of Lord Shiva. He is the son of Anjana and Kesari, and is also described as the son of Vaayu, who according to several stories, played a role in his birth. Lord Hanuman's birth name Maruti was given by the 3 shakti's : Goddess Parvati, Goddess Lakshmi and Goddess Saraswati. Other names of Lord Hanuman: Anjani Putra, Kesari Nandan, Maruti, Bajrang Bali and many more. Lord Hanuman's famous Bhajan in Sanskrit: "Vande Santam Hanumantam. Raam Bhaktam Balvantam. Gyan Pandit Anjantanyam. Pavana Putra Bhakartejam". Devotees read Hanuman Chalisa during special pujas of Lord Hanuman. Mantra for Lord Hanuman: ॐ श्रीहनुमते नमः (Om Shri Hanumate Namah) Lord Ganesha (in Sanskrit: गणेश ), also known as Ganapati and Vinayaka, is one of the best-known and most worshipped deities in the Hindu pantheon. His image is found throughout India, Sri Lanka and Nepal. Hindu sects worship him regardless of affiliations. Devotion to Ganesha is widely diffused and extends to Jains and Buddhists. Although he is known by many attributes, Ganesha's elephant head makes him easy to identify. Ganesha is widely revered as the remover of obstacles, the patron of arts and sciences and the deva of intellect and wisdom. As the god of beginnings, he is honoured at the start of rituals and ceremonies. Ganesha is also invoked as patron of letters and learning during writing sessions. Several texts relate mythological anecdotes associated with his birth and exploits and explain his distinct iconography. Lord Ganesha emerged as a distinct deity in the 4th and 5th centuries CE, during the Gupta Period, although he inherited traits from Vedic and pre-Vedic precursors. He was formally included among the five primary deities of Smartism (a Hindu denomination) in the 9th century. A sect of devotees called the Ganapatya arose, who identified Ganesha as the supreme deity. The principal scriptures dedicated to Ganesha are the Ganesha Purana, the Mudgala Purana, and the Ganapati Atharvashirsa. Mantras for Lord Ganesh: (1) ॐ श्री गणेशाय नमः (OM Sri Ganeshaya Namah) (2) वक्रतुण्ड महाकाय सूर्यकोटि समप्रभ निर्विघ्नं कुरु मे देव सर्वकार्येषु सर्वदा (Vakra-Tunndda Maha-Kaaya Suurya-Kotti Samaprabha Nirvighnam Kuru Me Deva Sarva-Kaaryessu Sarvadaa) (Flowers & falling petals with full presentation & explanation of the Gods: Lord Ayyappa, Lord Hanuman & Lord Ganesha designed at the instructions of Anurita for the respect & worship to Gods.) |
Dr. Anurita Kapur was invited to and she attended a puja of Lord Balaji at the Hindu Temple in July, 2015. She recited 1008 names of Lord Balaji with many other devotees. Lord Balaji is known to his devotees with many different names. Here are a few names: Lord of Seven Hills – Venkateswara ( वेंकटेश्वर ) Venkatesa – Balaji – Tirumalesha – Perumalla – Govinda – Sreenivasa. Puja concluded with Bhajans and Aarti. Anurita explained below about Lord Venkateswara Balaji which means Lord of Venkata. She said, Venkateswara is also known as Śrinivasā, Bālāji, Veṅkaṭā, and Veṅkaṭācalapati, is a form of the Hindu god Vishnu. Venkateswara's most prominent shrine is the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple located in Tirupathi, Andhra Pradesh in Southern India. According to the Hindu scriptures, Vishnu, out of love towards his devotees, incarnated as Venkateswara and appeared for the salvation and upliftment of humanity in this Kali Yuga age. It is considered the supreme form of Vishnu in this age. The Venkateswara swami temple is also called Kaliyuga Vaikuntam. Thus, Venkateswara is another form of Lord Vishnu who is the most popular deity among GSBs in Kerala. He is also known as Venkatachalapathi or Venkataramana or Tirumal devar or Varadaraja or Srinivasa or Balaji or Bithala. He has a dark complexion and four hands. In his two upper hands he holds a discus (a symbol of power) and a conchs hell (a symbol of existence). With his lower hands extended downward he asks devotees to have faith and surrender to him for protection. The supreme temple of Venkateswara is at Tirupati and every GSB wants to visit this temple at least once in life. The temple town of Tirupati is situated at the foot of Tirumala hills in the Chandragiri Taluka of the Chittor district in Andhra Pradesh. The sacred spot on the hill about 2,800 feet above sea level is known as Tirumala, the abode of Lord Venkateswara. The hill forms part of the Eastern Ghats and is also known as Venkatachala and Seshachala. It is said that the Eastern Ghats on this side along with their curves, heights and falls resemble the serpent Adisesha and that the seven hills of Tirupati are its seven heads and Ahobalam where Lord Narasimha murthy is worshipped, representing the centre of Adisesha, and Srisailam representing the tail end of Adisesha. That is why Tirumala is called Seshachala. According to the legends, this has been a sacred place in all the four yugas, and was known as Vrishabhachala in the Krithayuga, Anjanachala in the Tretayuga, Seshachala in the Dwaparayuga and Venkatachala in the present Kaliyuga. In this temple, unlike other Vishnu temples, we find no minor shrines or idols of Vaishnava saints. Apart from the Lord Venkateswara temple, the other important places at Tirumala and Swami pushkarini, Papavinasam and Akasaganga waterfalls, Varahaswamy temple, and Shila Toranam a very ancient rock formation supposed to be over 10,000 years old. THE LEGEND OF LORD VENKATESWARA (LORD BALAJI). Once some rishis headed by Kasyapa began to perform a sacrifice on the banks of the Ganges. Sage Narada visited them and asked them why they were performing the sacrifice and who would be pleased by it. Not being able to answer the question, the rishis approached Sage Bhrigu. To reach a solution after a direct ascertainment of reality, Sage Bhrigu Maharaj first went to Satyaloka, the abode of Lord Brahma. At Satyaloka, he found Lord Brahma, reciting the four Vedas in praise of Lord Narayana, with each of his four heads, and attended upon by Goddess Saraswati Devi. Lord Brahma did not take notice of Bhrigu Maharaj's offering obeisance. Concluding that Lord Brahma was unfit for worship, Bhrigu left Satyaloka for Mount Kailasa abode of Lord Shiva. At Kailasa, Bhrigu Maharaj found Lord Shiva spending his time pleasantly with Goddess Parvati Devi and not noticing his presence. Parvati Devi drew the attention of Lord Siva to the presence of the sage. Lord Siva was furious at Bhrigu's intrusion and tried to destroy him. The sage cursed Lord Siva and left for Vaikuntam. At Vaikuntam, Lord Vishnu was reposing on Adisesha Nagaraj (King of the Nagas) with Sri Mahalakshmi in service at His feet. Finding that Lord Vishnu also did not notice him, the sage was infuriated and kicked the Lord on His chest, the place where Mahalakshmi resides. At once, Lord Vishnu hastened to apologise to the angry sage and pressed his feet to allay the pain caused to Bhrigu's leg. In doing so the Lord removed the eye in the foot of the sage, stripping of his special powers. Thereupon, the sage concluded that Lord Vishnu was the most supreme of the trimurthis and told the rishis the same.
